What is Meditation?

Meditation, put simply, is the practice of quietening the mind’s chatter, or quietening the “monkey mind”.  In order to quieten the mind’s chatter, you must also be at rest and when your body rests there is opportunity for great healing and transformation.

Meditation can be many things to different people but it is also one of the simplest, most effortless and natural forms of preventative health treatment.   Despite what many people think, it doesn’t require any difficult concentration or control of the mind, in fact it’s quite the opposite.

Meditation requires the learning of a basic technique which tunes your subconscious mind to the deeply relaxed state of “Theta” brainwave activity.   With correct instruction on using the technique you will learn how to quieten your mind to the “Theta” brainwave state, and therefore remain in a state of restful alertness.

This means that although you will be in a state of deep rest an relaxation, you are still aware of the present moment.

While you are in the Theta brainwave state, your body will receive a deep level of rest – three to five times deeper than you experience when you are asleep – which enables you to gradually let go of the stresses that have built up in your body over the period of your life.

Meditation put simply is the practice of entering a relaxed state of mind.  A state where you are able to transcend the conscious mind into an altered state of awareness, an altered state of being.   Meditation is also known as “Transcending” from the fully alert “Beta” brainwave state, to the deeply relaxed “Theta” brainwave state.  It is in the “Theta” brainwave state that the real magic starts to happen.

While in this “Theta” meditative state, many real physiological and psychological benefits are obtained, which you will soon notice once a regular meditation routine is established.

You will soon discover that just 20 minutes of restful meditation is equivalent to a staggering 4 hours sleep.

The ablity for meditation to reduce stress and improve your health is remarkable, and the technique should be available to everyone.

Where Did Meditation Come From?

Meditation is most widely known as an ancient spiritual practice which has its origins in the ancient religious cultures of India and Tibet more 5,000 years ago.

Some in modern times have claimed to have “re-discovered” this ancient meditation technique, but the truth is that it has never been lost!

This meditation technique has been handed down by families through the generations and has remained in daily practice by individuals and families for over 5,000 years.

What is Mindfulness Meditation?

Meditation isn’t mindfulness, and mindfulness isn’t meditation.  However both Meditation and mindfulness should be an important part of your daily life.

Mindfulness is the practice of being aware of your feelings and emotions in the present moment, by simply being aware of them.  By being aware of your thoughts and feelings in the present moment, you are able to understand your thoughts, and behaviours and be in control of them, and this helps you to reduce stress and lead a more positive and happy life.

Many specialists say that learning the practice of mindful living has the power to greatly heal our mind/body connection and reduce stress.

Mindfulness Meditation is the name given to the modern-day use of the ancient spiritual practice of meditation when it is used solely for the purpose of reducing stress and improving overall health & wellness, without any specific religious purpose.

There are no mandatory religious mantras and there is no subconscious programming or mind control at all involved.   Mindfulness Meditation is perfectly safe and should become an important part of your daily mindfulness practise.

We run a variety of inspiring mindfulness Courses, Workshops & Events including Certificate in Mindfulness Meditation for Health & Wellness, and our full day Art & Mindfulness Meditation Workshop.
